Kurt Paulsen grew up in Wausau in the 80s when the Packers and the Badgers weren't very good. He and his wife, Evelyn, moved to Dane County for graduate school at UW-Madison in the mid 90s.
Kurt earned graduate degrees in economics and public administration from UW, and completed his PhD in urban planning and policy at Rutgers in New Jersey. Kurt is currently a professor of urban planning at UW-Madison, where he teaches and researches local government finance, housing, and land use. Kurt has served on the City of Middleton Plan Commission and served as the Chair of the Workforce Housing Committee for five years.
Kurt and Evelyn have 3 children who attend Middleton Public Schools. They have been active in their community, volunteering in the schools and with youth sports.
